"That Which Doesn't Kill You Only Makes You Stronger"

I found out about a month ago that I was going to be able to try out for American Gladiators! Wow! This was my dream!! I have seen every episode and couldn't wait to try out! I was perfect for this....I knew I could get on that show.

Try outs are Feb 9th. That gave me plenty of time to work on my agility, wrestling, and tackling skills. I was lucky enough to get help from Scotty, a 6'3" (260lbs SOLID ROCK) member of the greatest SWAT team in the US, the Phoenix SWAT. He taught me how to wrestle, get away from defenders and use others momentum for my advantage. I was starting to really get the hang of it! Now, I was REALLY unstoppable!

On Monday, Scotty and I were practicing the "Gauntlet." (He was holding a pad and I was trying to sprint and spin around him.)

Then it happened... I was spinning around him and my foot got held up on some uneven ground. My knee went one way and my body went the other. Then, I went DOWN holding my knee.

Got my MRIs back: Complete tear of the ACL, partial tear on my Meniscus & badly (internally fractured) bruised bones.

I am now planning the surgery. I am so bummed out right now. Everything is going to be effected. I CAN'T tryout and be a Gladiator this year, I probably won't be able to do a show for a while. My symmetry and many other things are going to be messed up. What am I going to do?!

I have been trying NOT to burst into tears lately. I know I will recover, but I'm just so disappointed. I have been working and training on unstable ground so that I could avoid injury... and look what happens.

I have so much more to say, but I'm in Ohio right now and have a full schedule. It's my Grandpas 90th bday, I am in a wedding on Saturday and my birthday is Sunday! (It's going to be quite the sight; me in a dress, knee brace and crutches hobbling down the aisle. The bride is awesome though, she is the most low-maintenance bride I've ever seen.)Then it's back to Phoenix for surgery.

Update & My Action Packed Weekend

I had such a great weekend.

It all started with an amazing leg workout on Thursday. I superset deep squats with the agility ladder. Then, squat jumps and lots of explosive exercises. Finally, we did calves. HARD. I was so sore I fell out of bed the next morning. I could barely walk all weekend.

On Friday, I my friend came to visit me and we went hiking and off-roading. We laughed so hard! My car was filthy! ...my calves were so sore...

Saturday was a once in a lifetime event. I went to the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction. This is big money and a big car show. My dream car was being auctioned, a 1969 Mustang Shelby GT500 owned by Carroll Shelby. It went for $675,000... Guess what? One of our clients bought it!..along with a few other unbelievable cars. He also got us Platinum VIP passes. We were sitting in the third row next to big name people. So much fun! That night I went out with the crew and we had a blast!

This is my dream car. A Shelby 427..Ooh!!!

This is the guy from Dukes of Hazard. He sat right in front of me! Heee.

Also, one guy asked what the Super Bowl hype was like in Phoenix. There hasn't been much going on until this past weekend. Now that the teams are decided, there is a lot more. It's funny, people are renting out their houses for thousands of dollars for visiting fans, the news crews are talking, and talking, and talking and I've seen a few t-shirts.

I'm actually going back to Columbus, OH that weekend to celebrate a friend's wedding and my birthday. I'm bummed I'm going to be missing it all.

Putting Up Some Motivation

If you all remember back in May, 2007, I was featured in the JANE magazine article '30 Under 30 Inspirational Women.' Well, I didn't keep a copy for myself. I know, I know, how does that happen? It's me, that's how.
Anyway, for Christmas, my mom surprised me by framing the article. It was such a nice surprise. She almost brought tears to my eyes. Thanks Mom.

I hung it up on my wall recently. Everyday, it serves as a reminder of how lucky I am. Lucky to be walking, talking, safe, ....happy,...and lucky enough to be able to compete.

It's late, I've had a long day. Goodnight.

I'm doing Team Universe

This wonderful client of mine..well, kind of slapped me in the face with reality the other day. He asked me what show I was doing and I said, "I don't know.. maybe Team Universe.." And then he said, if someone would had pushed him a little when he needed it, he would have accomplished more. Basically, he told me to quit floating through life and do a freaking show! He reminded me that I have everything going for me right now, heck, I work in a gym! And, I got my play time in Phoenix out of the way... buckle down and get to it!

So, I am doing the Team Universe!

Right now, I am only working on my consistency. I need to eat right and train right. Then, I'll start the real prep.

Had a Great Weekend and A Great Workout

I had such a fun weekend! Living out in the desert or also known as the Wild Wild West, I have gotten used to sunshine, sunshine all the time. Well, it rained last Sunday, which I have to say was quite refreshing. It was the perfect opportunity for me and Blu to go have some fun! So we treked to the Superstition Moutains. As I got higher and higher, the tops of the moutains were in the clouds. It was the most incredible thing. Then, Blu and I played inthe mud a little. I had a great time. Below are pictures of the moutains I hiked in the rain, clouds and mud, along with a little piece of Blu after the rain cleaned him up.

Today I boxed with a few co-workers and then trained chest. My upper body was so fatigued today that my right hand wouldn't stop shaking. My back is sore from Monday's workout and my upper body is just a mess. It feels really good though. I've missed that feeling.. you know the one where you are reminded of the workout everytime you move. We are definetly going to be boxing again, our energy levels were out of control for the rest of the day!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Things have been going really well for me lately. I am back in my groove. I've been training consistently and eating really well. (I'm trying to loose some of the body fat I acquired while I was "living life in my new city.") I feel better than I have in a long time.
I have been weight training and doing 20-30 mins of cardio 5 days a week, and once a week a boxing boot camp! It's a blast, I get my butt kicked, I love it. My goal is to stay consistent for a while and make it a regular routine again. Then, I'll think about doing the Team Universe in September 08.

I will take some pictures soon and post them. You've got to see my amazing new blue truck! It's an FJ Cruiser... the perfect Amy in Arizona car.
